Day Family Reunion
About Us
Giles Cephas Day was the first son of Ferdinand and Patra Day.
Patra was white and raised by a black family.  Ferdinand was of
mixed descent.

According to Olivia and Emma the Day's were not slaves
because of their mixed descent.

Cephas was four years old when slavery was abolished.  He
married Lee Ann (Jimmy) Tinsley.  Jimmy's mother was the
daughter of Ned and Nellie Tinsley.  Sally Ann Hancock's mother,
Kitty, was a slave. Her father, Nero, was a Black Foot Indian.

The Days lived in a small community called Freestate in Bedford
County, Virginia.
